The Art of DJing DJ Course

This course was specially-crafted to provide the framework to become a great, well-rounded DJ. You’ll learn the fundamental basics of scratching, mixing, counting BPM’s and recognizing song structure, dropping the song on beat, as well as historical and functional training. And that’s just where you’ll start.

Our DJ Course is nine months long and split up into four multi-week sessions. Concurrent sessions can be taken directly following the completion of a previous session, but can also be paused for a later date to accommodate versatile schedules:

  • Novice (6 Weeks) – $300
  • Amateur (12 Weeks) – $600
  • Intermediate (12 Weeks) – $600
  • Advanced (6 Weeks) – $300
  • Advanced Plus (Optional After Completion)

Additional Details:

  • Class is once per week
  • Class is on the day/time you signed up
  • Class day/time is same until completion
  • Classes are in an intimate setting
  • Cost is roughly $50 per class
  • Full payment required for Novice course
  • Automatic weekly payments available after Novice completion
  • Students are evaluated to determine readiness of next level
  • Signups generally available 1-2 weeks before new sessions
  • Everything needed to take course is provide
  • We recommend ages 11 and up
  • Attendance requirements enforced

IMPORTANT ATTENDENCE REQUIREMENTS INFORMATION:  You can’t learn if you don’t show up to class. We allow one unexcused absence per six weeks, where an alternate day/time or an extended week will be supplied to grant the make-up class. Any additional unexcused absences beyond that one absence do not come with the expectation that we will automatically be able to accommodate additional makeup classes.  Please also note that any excused absences (vacation, holidays, etc.) require us to be notified at minimum 10 days in advance so we can adjust our internal scheduling.

DJ NOVICE COURSE

The first six weeks.
When we having upcoming courses available, they will be listed below. Classes typically become available 1-2 weeks before they start due to the variability of when current students complete their course. Feel free to fill out our waiting list here, as we often reach out to our waiting list first before we make classes public.

WEEKEND WARRIOR

Test Before You Invest!
This one-time, four-hour long class, ideal for those with little or no experience, is typically held on Saturdays and Sundays once per month. It’s an ideal economic option for those wanting to get familiar with the art of DJing without investing too much time or money right away.

NOVICE (6 weeks)
An Introduction To DJ’ing
This introduction course provides the framework to becoming a great DJ. You’ll learn the fundamental basics of scratching, mixing, counting BPM’s and recognizing song structure, dropping the song on beat, as well as historical and functional training. This class sets the standard for becoming the best DJ you can be!

AMATEUR (12 weeks)
Application of Fundamentals
This 12-week long course will allow you to build on to the knowledge base you gathered in the NOVICE class. In the AMATEUR course, you’ll delve deeper into scratching and mixing mechanics, beat-matching, and how to use a hands-on approach effectively with both the gear and the music simultaneously.

INTERMEDIATE (12 weeks)
Studying the Craft
This 12-week long course will allow you to flourish as you explore and implement new techniques. Here you’ll hone in on the art of blending, incorporating scratch combinations, utilizing the digital platform(s) & functions, learn how to effectively use different transition techniques and EQ’ing.

ADVANCED (6 weeks)
Practice Makes Perfect
This 6-week long course will provide you with final set of skills to master the turntables. You’ll focus on controlling a crowd, beat juggling, advanced scratch techniques, creating scratch sentences, and incorporating digital effects into your mix effectively.
